The ridge cap attaches to the tops of each rib, so there is a substantial air gap between the ridge and the wide/flat portion of the roof panels. During installation of the OSB roof sheathing, we left a 2" wide opening at the peak of the roofto allow hot air to rise and escape. It will pass thru these openings in the metal roofing system, but we want to keep rain, snow, and insects out. The black material in the pic is a fiber material that allows air flow but no water/snow/bug flow.
